North East Mountain Trust- The principal aim of the trust is to co-ordinate and promote public awareness for these unique areas and to ensure their protection for the enjoyment of those taking recreation in them, both now, and in the future.

- The Mountain Bothies Association is a charity which looks after about 100 shelters in some of the remoter parts of the UK.
ScotWays- The Scottish Rights of Way and Access Society has been working to safeguard rights of way for 160 years. It is probably the oldest organisation in the world dedicated to improving countryside access.
